Flies and friends come in the summer.

Most of my works are highly individual custom pieces. With the flies, my smallest 'faithful companions', I make a small exception. Nevertheless, each piece is of course a small specialty.

In an elaborate electroplating process, the original insect is coated with pure silver. This gives me a "mummy" of the fly (positive form). A special silicone mold is made with the mummy, which produces the negative for the wax model of the fly and, after removing the original, is filled with hot wax under high pressure. After this wax injection process, the wax insect (positive form) is embedded in a plaster-like modeling material and heated in a special oven so that the wax melts out and releases the negative for the final casting in gold or silver. On the resulting precious metal insect made of 935/°°° silver (positive form, final result), the connector of the earring/brooch is firmly and securely attached with solder.

Then the respective final processing takes place by white boiling, blackening or, again in an electroplating process, a coating of 999.99 pure gold, 12 microns thick.
