the fragile, golden image of happiness.
Happiness can be small and hidden, or powerful, large. It lies in freedom, in longing, in attack and retreat. In intact nature, in the skin of one's partner, in ideas, in the creative process.
Happiness and our individual definition of it, our perspective on it, becomes a part of ourselves, our identity - it completes us, defines us. Our image of happiness determines our very own narrative, our interpretation and telling of encounters, events, the world. Happiness is memory, hope, wish, goal.
Uncovering happiness - giving it form - making it tangible.
Andreas Zidek dedicates his work to this task, creating unique jewelry and artworks in gold, silver, and precious stones. They are witnesses of the artist, of encounter, touch, processing - witnesses of individual happiness. They allow us to remember and capture what is special.
Happiness for me means being whole, complete, with all senses, open and permeable, but standing firmly on the ground and being perceptive.
I discovered my passion for working with precious stones, gold, and silver very early on – my craft has always been directly connected with artistic creation: the continuous, curious observation of emotionally relevant themes, events, and things.
Happiness is my central theme that brings everything together; happiness is living and working. I constantly discover new images and ideas of happiness. Touch and encounter are central motifs through which I design and develop visually and haptically appealing objects – always under the premise of high aesthetic quality.
I work in various creative strands, which I would be happy to introduce to you personally. My faithful companions, authentically molded insects, are for example a fixed part of this repertoire. The motif of transience and the associated recognition of happiness in existence, in the here and now, forms the central appeal. An appreciation of true riches.
My inspiration—the foundation of my work—always comes from reality, the intense engagement with overarching themes, worlds of experience, and shared observations that is rooted in the creative process. At the end of these journeys stand special art objects that can almost always be worn on the body as jewelry. My works are not jewelry pieces in the classical sense—rather artworks that are created not with the claim of being products, but as individual pieces.
I view my works like a good meal: High clarity, a good basic substance, earthy, honest... but at the same time with an exciting bouquet, rich in detail, delicate and balanced, organic, emotional, grown, emerged, in the moment, characterized by virtuosity and passion.
Enough about me! What are the moments, people, wishes, goals, fixed points that you don't want to lose sight of, that you don't want to forget, with which you associate something very special?
Perhaps you could give me a little insight? ...

I love the craft of goldsmithing and everything connected with it. It defines my understanding of quality, honesty, mindfulness in handling the material, and gives me the tools and techniques I need.
In the practice of my creative work, however, it is always first and foremost a means to an end.
On the way to my goal, I initially don't think in terms of gold and stones, but in ideas, in central motifs that are inherent to a subject.
When it comes to realization, I challenge the material and established techniques, also resorting to unconventional methods to implement my concept and artistic style.
Here, the spectrum ranges from technically highly complex, multi-stage galvanic molding processes to deliberately rough saw edges, to allowing the material to 'break open'. My works aim to express the organic, the grown, the living – controlled chance always plays a role in this. As with good cuisine, much can be planned, foreseen, defined. But only the virtuoso moment – the tasting, the play between preserving a deep, honest, essential basic substance and the filigree, differentiated, balanced – creates an excellent meal, a special work.
Here I would like to give you an insight into my series of works.
Look around, there's a lot of exciting things to discover!
